I have no idea how I feel about this right now, but as of June, 8, 2008, Sound Home Loans has closed its doors.  After very carefully examining both the local, national, global (and my personal) economic conditions, I've decided that the mortgage industry is due for some MAJOR overhauls.  And in the meantime, I'm going to be joining the ranks of folks getting  paid vacations, retirement and insurance benefits, 40-hour work-weeks, etc.  And sleeping soundly at night.

I have thouroughly enjoyed this time getting to know SO many truly wonderful people.  Our country is in a mess right now, but I know that the "Average Joe" out there  is a pretty damn good guy and that we will all turn out all right in the end.

I hope to move to Bellingham, where supposedly all three of my kids will be by fall.  I  deeply regret leaving San Juan Island behind after 19 years come June 15, 2008.  I have such admiration and respect for us somewhat odd ducks who call this island "home" --but I kind of do need to eat and provide a roof over my head.  Gas is now $4.62/gallon and I have only been going off-island maybe twice a year--usually for medical reasons--never to just have fun.

Well, it's time for a new start in a new place at a new job.  The possibilities are endless!  Scary and exciting and exhausting, all simultaneously.

Best of luck to all of you!

Sincerely,

Roberta Leed
